Experiments with Microsoft Paint

Making drawings with Microsoft Paint is not very easy. But it at least gives basic functions to experiment around. This drawing is one of my favorite ones. Somehow moon has always been my symbol of romance.

News Paper Collage

Marlin Monroe
During 3rd year in IIT-Delhi Arjun came up with this great idea to portray this amazing smile in a different medium of an unprecedented size. We let our ideas flow for days and finalized on creating this impression using paper, actually an inexpensive medium - newspaper. Because of its big size, it was hard to make out from short distance. So we had to put it at a place where it could be seen from a distance, and that place was the hostel mess. Unfortunately its life was not very long and because of its weight it used to fall off the wall many a times and finally got spoiled. Now it is no more there but memories are still alive in form of this photograph. I remember how much Ajju and Bharati helped us all throughout this tiring endeavor.

Medium: News Paper cuttings
Original Size: 6ft X 5Ft

Snapshots of Life

Capturing snapshots of life is always fun. Every sketch seems to tell a story. The real challenge is to tell it interestingly that starts well and concludes fine too. This is sketch is titled 'Umr' (Age). Doesn't it talk a lot about itself?

Portrayal of life on paper

It is very exciting experience to create a face by drawing lines. It gives a feeling of creator. Capturing right emotions and expressions is the biggest challenge and gives a great feeling once you are able to manipulate them by just few pencil strokes. It is very irritating if you don’t get it right and overwhelming once you get it.

Experiments with charcoal

Charcoal gives a lot of freedom, when it comes to abstract art or impressions. I liked to do this piece of impression, primarily because it made me realized impact of this medium.
Medium: Charcoal on handmade paper.

My first experiment with shades

This was my first try with shades in a sketch. I took it as a challenge during long weekend hours at IIT Delhi hostel in 1995. It took me few weeks to complete it to my satisfaction.
Medium: Pencils 2H, HB, 2B, 4B, 6B
